Brilliant Beautiful Brittany

14-30/2011

Well I was bit nervous about driving on the opposite side of the road and maneouvering the car from the opposite side and actually driving completely back to front from what I'm use to but after doing it couple of times I got use to it.
The French like to have a long lunch. Everything shuts from 12 noon to 2pm, they then reopen and most shops stay open til 7pm. Oh to have a long lunch everyday somehow I don't think NZ will adopt that one!!! They do have good customer service here. They greet you saying bonjour madame. Makes you feel quite posh it does I quite like it.

During our stay we visited the seaside a couple of times. We visited a gorgeous seaside town on a long peninsular called Quiberon. So picturisque, gorgeous white houses dotted around a golden sandy bay.

We ventured off another day to a beach area called Erdeven. We decided to go all the back roads which was fine it just took us only 3-4hours and about 30mins to get back to the house. Oh well we got to see some wonderful sights. I'm in love with quaint stone villages. They are everywhere and so gorgeous!!!

Around the area was a mideaval town called Poul Fetan. We felt we were on the set to Lord Of The Rings. Unfortuantely no hobbits to be found!!! Frodo where are you.
Poul Fetan
Frodo are you there?

Mike drove us to St Marlo where we were taking the ferry across to Portsmouth. He took us to an area with a huge chateau. We walked through another gorgeous stone village. They are like stepping back in
time. We had lunch and tried snails. Ah yeah ok I've tried them but I probably won't have them again.

St Marlo
We were staying in the old city of St Marlo called Intra-Muros surrounded by a fortress which was constructed at the end of the 17th century. We took a walk on the fortress which takes you around the outside of the city. It is another gorgeous place.

We had a wonderful wonderful time at Kergouave Vihan. Thank you so much Linda and Mike for all your kindness and giving us the opportunity to see a wonderful part of France. And of course Freddie, so adorable we have grown attached. It was sad to leave but hopefully we will return. Au revoir.
